Is it safe to sign in?
Last updated 2026-07-27
Short version: yes. You sign in through Steam or Discord themselves, PZLFG never sees your password, and we only receive the minimum needed to know it's you. Here is exactly how it works, and how you can check for yourself.
You never give us your password
When you click "Continue with Steam" or "Continue with Discord," you are taken to Steam's or Discord's own website to log in. You type your password there, on their site, not here. PZLFG never sees it and could not store it even if we wanted to.
How to check: look at the address bar when you log in. It will say steamcommunity.com or discord.com, not our site.
We only receive the minimum
- Steam tells us only your public SteamID (a number that identifies your account). That is it. We cannot see your library, your friends, your wallet, or do anything on your behalf. It is identity verification only.
- Discordshares only your basic profile (the "identify" permission): your user ID, username, and avatar. We do not request your email, your messages, your servers, or permission to act as you. Before you approve, Discord shows you a screen listing exactly what is being requested - read it.
Your accounts stay private
Your real Steam and Discord handles are hidden by default. They are only revealed to another member after you both accept a connection. Until then, other people just see the custom username you chose. See our Privacy Policy for everything we store and why.
You stay in control
- Revoke PZLFG's access anytime in Discord under User Settings → Authorized Apps. Steam sign-in grants no standing access to revoke - it only ever confirmed your ID.
- Delete your account and all of your data whenever you want, from your account settings.
Don't just take our word for it
- The connection is encrypted (the padlock in your address bar).
- The login always happens on Steam's or Discord's own site, which you can confirm from the address bar.
- Discord shows you the exact permissions before you approve.
- PZLFG is open source - anyone can read exactly what the code does at https://github.com/AlexVDefi/pzlfg.
